Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and CHUN JIYOUN, an individual based in the Republic of Korea who runs Ajarlight at ajarlight.com ("we", "us", "our"). You agree to these Terms when you accept the consent statement next to the button for your first reading ("By continuing, you confirm you're 18+ and agree to the Terms and Privacy Policy") and again when you buy ("By purchasing you agree to the Terms and Refund Policy"). If you do not agree, please do not use Ajarlight (the "Service").

1. What the Service is

Ajarlight is an entertainment website. You type a question, the Service draws tarot cards at random, and artificial intelligence (AI) writes text about what those cards traditionally symbolize in relation to your question. We call each result a "reading".

  • Readings are written by AI software. No human writes or edits your reading, and the Service does not connect you with any person.
  • Card draws are random. The AI cannot choose or change the cards.
  • The Service is offered for entertainment and personal reflection only.

2. Entertainment only: please read

  • Readings make no claims about real-world outcomes. They are not statements of fact, do not reveal hidden facts, and do not describe what another person thinks or will do.
  • We make no claims of special or supernatural ability. We do not claim that tarot cards or our AI have any such power.
  • Readings are not professional services. They are not a substitute for help from a doctor, lawyer, financial professional, mental health professional or other qualified professional. Do not rely on a reading to make decisions about your health, legal matters, money, safety or relationships.
  • AI can be wrong. AI text may be inaccurate, incomplete or unsuitable for your situation.
  • You are responsible for your own choices. Anything you decide to do after reading the text is your decision.

3. If you are in crisis

The Service cannot help in an emergency. If you or someone else is in danger, call your local emergency number now (911 in the United States and Canada, 000 in Australia). If you are thinking about suicide or self-harm, you can call or text 988 (United States and Canada) or call Lifeline on 13 11 14 (Australia). If you are elsewhere, you can find a helpline for your country at findahelpline.com. If your question mentions self-harm or similar topics, the Service may show these contacts instead of a reading. When that happens, no reading is used up: your free reading for the day or your paid reading is not counted.

4. Who can use the Service

You may use the Service only if you are at least 18 years old. By accepting the consent statement next to the first-reading button, and again when you buy, you confirm that you are. The Service is not meant for anyone under 18.

Where the Service is available:

  • Free readings: adults 18+ (not available in the EEA, the UK and its Crown Dependencies, Gibraltar, or Switzerland). If our systems detect that you are connecting from one of these places, we show a notice instead of a reading. Please do not use tools to hide your location in order to get around this.
  • Paid readings: United States, Canada and Australia.

5. Free and paid readings

  • Free reading: one short reading per day, with no account needed. To prevent abuse of this limit, we check your IP address and a device identifier (see our Privacy Policy). Please do not try to get around the limit. To keep the Service sustainable, we also limit the total number of free readings per day; if that limit is reached, free readings pause until the next day (UTC).
  • Paid readings: a Deep Reading costs US$2.99, and a 5-Reading Pack costs US$9.99. Prices are shown in U.S. dollars on the site and at checkout. Prices for customers in Australia include GST. For customers elsewhere, sales tax, if any, is shown at checkout before you pay.
  • Follow-up questions: every paid Deep Reading includes up to 3 follow-up questions about your cards per Deep Reading. A follow-up question must be about the cards drawn in that reading. A follow-up question counts as used when its response is first shown on your screen. Follow-up questions belong to the Deep Reading they came with and do not carry over to another reading.
  • One-time purchases only. There are no subscriptions and no automatic renewals. You are charged only when you choose to buy.
  • Unused readings in a pack stay in your account while the Service is running. If we close the Service for good, we will email you at least 30 days in advance so you can use your remaining readings, and we will refund unused readings from purchases made in the 30 days before closing. Where the law requires a refund, we will provide one.
  • Refunds are covered by our Refund Policy.

6. Payments through Dodo Payments

Our order process is handled by our online reseller, Dodo Payments, which is the Merchant of Record for all paid orders. This means Dodo Payments sells the paid readings to you, takes your payment, handles sales tax, issues your receipt and processes refunds. Your purchase is also subject to the Dodo Payments Buyer Terms shown at checkout.

We never see or store your full card number or other payment card details. If you have a problem with a charge, please contact us at support@ajarlight.com first so we can fix it quickly.

7. Your login

If you buy a reading, you can sign in with a one-time link sent to your email ("magic link"), so you can see your purchased readings again. Keep access to your email account secure. Anyone who can open your email may be able to open your readings. Tell us right away if you think someone else has used your login.

8. Rules for using the Service

You agree not to:

  • break any law, or use the Service to harass, threaten or harm anyone;
  • type in other people's private information (for example, their full name, address or health details) without their permission;
  • try to get around usage limits, payment checks or security measures;
  • copy, scrape or resell the Service or its readings in bulk, or use automated tools to access it;
  • try to make the AI produce illegal, hateful, sexual or violent content;
  • interfere with or overload the Service.

We may block or limit access if we reasonably believe these rules have been broken.

9. Content and ownership

  • Your questions remain yours. You give us permission to process them only to create your reading and run the Service, as described in our Privacy Policy.
  • Readings: we allow you to use the readings you receive for your own personal, non-commercial purposes, including sharing them with friends.
  • The Service: the site design, text, software and brand belong to us or our licensors. Card artwork is used under its own license or public domain status.

10. Changes and availability

We may change, pause or stop parts of the Service at any time. We will try to keep the Service available but cannot promise it will always work without errors or interruptions. If a change materially reduces what you paid for, you can get a refund of unused readings (within 30 days of purchase) or keep using them. If a technical problem affects a paid reading, see our Refund Policy.

11. Ending your use

You can stop using the Service at any time and ask us to delete your data (see our Privacy Policy). We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms. If we do so without a good reason related to your conduct, we will refund unused readings from purchases made in the 30 days before the suspension or ending. Where the law requires a refund, we will provide one.

12. Disclaimer

To the extent the law allows, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. This does not affect any rights you have under consumer law that cannot be excluded.

13. Limit of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, or for decisions you make based on a reading. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, Canadian provincial consumer protection laws, or U.S. state consumer protection laws.

14. Disputes and governing law

  • Talk to us first. If you have a complaint, email support@ajarlight.com. We will try to resolve it within 30 days.
  • Governing law. These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. However, if you are a consumer, you keep the protection of any mandatory laws of the country, state or province where you live.
  • Where to bring a claim. You may bring a claim in the small claims court where you live, if that court can hear it. Otherwise, claims will be heard by the Seoul Central District Court in Seoul, Republic of Korea, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring the claim in your local courts.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. We will post the new version on this page with a new effective date. If a change is significant, we will also show a notice on the site or email paying customers before it takes effect. Purchases already made are covered by the Terms in place when you bought them. If a change materially reduces what you paid for, you can get a refund of unused readings (within 30 days of purchase) or keep using them.
